We Clean, Re-Route, & Repair Dryer Vents, Too!

Our efforts to keep your home safer and more efficient aren’t just limited to chimneys and fireplaces – we also provide thorough, high-quality dryer vent services. Most homeowners don’t spend much time thinking about it, but dirty, damaged, or poorly routed dryer vents can be inefficient as well as a serious fire and health hazard. Are you keeping up with proper dryer maintenance?

Why Should Dryer Vent Services Be A Priority?

Every time you empty your lint trap, you’re helping keep your dryer working safer and more efficiently. But the lint trap isn’t the only area collecting lint and debris. The exhaust ductwork leading from your appliance to the termination point may also be collecting lint with each load of laundry, especially if the ducts cover a large distance or have a lot of rises, falls, or turns.

In the past, dryers were placed against exterior walls, so venting didn’t have that far to travel. But with newer homes, dryers tend to be placed further into the home — in bathrooms, kitchens, hall closets, or whichever other room may be the most convenient. Although this may make laundry day easier, it’s not necessarily the best choice from a safety or efficiency standpoint. Here’s why:

The further the ductwork has to travel, the more rises, falls, turns, and bends are needed to accommodate the path. These falls, rises, and bends can slow down air flow and provide nooks and crannies for lint to settle and collect. Additionally, there are more opportunities for ductwork to separate. Both of these things can contribute to an inefficient appliance, a greater production of carbon monoxide, and a higher chance of fire. If the exhaust duct is clogged or blocked, carbon monoxide can back up into your air supply instead of exiting the home, causing serious health problems and even death.

Annual Inspections Can Help Reduce Your Risk & Your Energy Bills

Here at DNA's Chimney Sweep Services, our team works hard to minimize fire and health risks and reduce energy waste by providing annual dryer vent inspections. During an inspection, we’ll evaluate the venting material, the type of vent cover being used, the path or route that the venting travels, and the condition of the venting from appliance to termination.
  • If we find that you have plastic transition ducts, we’ll recommend replacing them with metal, which is non-flammable.
  • If we find that the path the venting travels is hazardous or disadvantageous, we’ll recommend a reroute.
  • If we find that your venting is made of improper material – for example if it is a long vent with a corrugated design – we’ll recommend replacing it with rigid metal vent material, which is more conducive to air flow and reduces the chance of lint buildup.
  • If we find that your vents are clogged with lint or that animals or birds have brought nesting materials and other debris into your venting system, we’ll recommend a dryer vent cleaning and a dryer vent cover.
Whether your dryer vents are in need of reroute, repair, or just a good, quality cleaning, you can count on the certified experts at DNA's Chimney Sweep Services to do the job right.

Signs It’s Time

Although annual inspections are the best way to stay on top of dryer vent maintenance needs, there are some signs that can alert you it’s time for an inspection and cleaning:
  • Are you having to run your clothes through longer dry cycles to get results?
  • Is your dryer running hotter?
  • Are you noticing a burning smell on your clothes or when you run your dryer?
  • Is there lint around your dryer hose or gathering around the termination point?

All of these may be signs it’s time to give DNA's Chimney Sweep Services a call! Our technicians provide thorough cleaning, rerouting, and repair services, and use specialized tools to ensure a mess-free experience — guaranteed.
